The 69th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean was held from 10 to 13 October 2022 at the WHO regional premises in Cairo, under the theme “Together for a healthier and sustainable tomorrow”. As the decision-making body for the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region, the Regional Committee provides a unique opportunity to reinforce WHO’s role as the trusted global health authority and to share evidence-based health information on the Region.   • Pre-Regional Committee technical meeting (39)
    Prior to the inauguration of the 69th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, a pre-Regional Committee technical meeting was held to discuss a range of important health issues of regional interest. The pre-Regional Committee agenda included discussions on local vaccine production in the Region and reviews of the regional cervical cancer elimination strategy and the regional approach to the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–2030. Participants also discussed ways to improve the monitoring of the response to emergencies in humanitarian and fragile settings, methods for strengthening hospital information systems and a review of the Regional Health Alliance’s joint action plan 2022–2023.  Prior to the inauguration of the 69th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, a pre-Regional Committee technical meeting was held to discuss a range of important health issues of regional interest.
